Local Champions

Miller’s Founder John Miller, Sr. was a hunter and competitive shooter who won the Delaware state skeet championships in 1969 and 1970.

His son, Bob, then became the youngest skeet shooting champion in history when he won the state championship in 1971 at age 13. Bob repeated as state champion in 1972 (and won more than 30 additional titles), only to be followed by his brother John, Jr. who won state skeet shooting championships in 1973 and 1974.

John, Jr. went on to win trap, skeet, and sporting clays championships. All are members of various Delaware sporting halls of fame.

The shooting prowess of the Miller men was impressive, but — not to be outdone.

John Sr.’s wife Rosemary Miller also dominating Delaware’s (and the nation’s) shooting scene. Rosemary won nine Delaware trapshooting state championships in the late 1960s and 1970s. She was named to the Sports Afield Women’s All-American shooting team from 1969 to 1974. What’s more, she was the only amateur shooter to make both the All-American Trap and Skeet shooting teams in the same year. She is also a member of the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame.
